Cactus to Clouds (C2C) is a blog about ultra running, trail running, long hikes, beautiful places and the ethic to preserve all of that for future generations. That’s it.

Where did “Cactus to Clouds” come from?

One of the hikes that is or will be covered on this site is the C2C climb from Palm Springs up San Jacinto, one of the hardest dayhikes in the USA by many estimates. It just felt like the idea of that hike embodied everything I love about exploring the outdoors while moving fast and light. Sort of the Alpine ethic applied to hiking and running.

Hello – wondering if there is a hired guide or company that could navigate the trail and lead a group of women, just so that we know the route and for safety. I’ve searched the internet and could not find one. Do you know of any?

I don’t know of any formal guides. Skyline trail is not a supported trail in the usual sense, so legal guiding on it is problematic from a liability point of view (it crosses private property, native land, etc.). I do know of many people who’ve done the trail many times, and I can ask them if any are interested in helping. What is the level of fitness / experience of your group, and when are you thinking of going (and how many are there)?
